The breakfast
The pericos are scrambled slow with onion and tomato, the arepa goes on the griddle, the bread is sourdough, and the pancakes are beaten from scratch. That is why there is a wait — and why people come back.
El Mercadito was opened by a Colombian in Leamington. One plate is called "Colombian" and another is called "The Canuck" — which tells you everything: her home and this country, on the same menu.
What leaves the pass
The menu is short on purpose. Everything is made to order with produce from here — Leamington is greenhouse country and it shows.

Smashed avocado and two eggs on sourdough with tomato, goat cheese, balsamic and sprouts.
Two poached eggs in a rich tomato and pepper sauce with warm spices, and bread to push it around.
Before you come
Half a dozen reviews say the same thing: it sits behind another business and it is easy to walk past. We are at 85 Talbot Street East, with free parking. It is worth finding.
How it works
The whole menu with prices, in English and Spanish. If something has run out it goes grey and will not let you order it.
It appears at the counter the second you send it, and we tell you how many minutes it will be.
Pickup only — we do not deliver. You pay here, cash, debit or credit.
